The postgraduate coursework program in Journalism, Media and Communications provides students with core media skills - practical and analytical - and the opportunity to specialise within the field of journalism, media and communications. The program offers a selection of 'base' units, each of which is designed to allow students - in consultation with teaching staff - to focus on a specific area within the broader field, such as environmental and science communications, sports media, print, broadcast and convergent journalism, or public relations. As students progress through the program, they develop both the skills required by industry and to work independently, and a specialised knowledge. This course builds on the Graduate Certificate with the completion of two additional units from those not already completed from the list above. Alternatively students may elect to include up to 25% of Journalism, Media and Communications undergraduate or Honours units (ie HEJ coded units) or any of the cross-disciplinary units from the list below:

The Master of Journalism, Media and Communications allows for students to continue their studies by undertaking independent research on an approved topic, which will result in a major project or thesis in the area of Journalism, Media and Communications.
