Graduate Diploma in Information Management

Fees - Commonwealth supported for UTAS units. Units through Edith Cowan University are full-fee paying.
Intake - February and July (part-time only in July)
Duration - Minimum 1 years (2 sem), maximum 3 years (6 sem)
This course will equip graduates with fundamental skills and knowledge to function effectively as information managers. Students will acquire a greater understanding of the role information plays in society, on both an individual and an organisational level.
The course has three distinct streams, depending on the professional outcome sought. These streams are Information Management, General Librarian and Teacher Librarian.
There are four core units common across all streams. These are
Information Management
The core units specific to this stream are Managing Websites and IS-based Knowledge Management. Two electives are also selected from the student's area of interest.
General Librarian
The core units specific to this stream are Manage and Develop Learning Strategies and Information Literacy and Lifelong Learners (only available via distance education from Edith Cowan University). Two electives are also selected from the student's area of interest.
Teacher Librarian
The core units specific to this stream are Literature for Children, Manage and Develop Learning Strategies and
Information Literacy and Lifelong Learners (only available via distance education from Edith Cowan University). One elective is also selected from the student's area of interest. All applicants must have a teaching qualification to be eligible for this stream.
Candidates for this program will be required to have a three-year degree from an accredited university, and have a basic knowledge of information systems and information modelling. This knowledge may be gained by self-study and professional experience, or by attending both of the units Business Information Systems and Information Modelling & Infrastructures.
Subject to demand, the School of Information Systems offers BSA102 Information Modelling & Infrastructures during the summer months.
This course provides professional accreditation with ALIA ( Australian Library and Information Association).
